Academic Credit
Southern offers the opportunity for any teacher attending NAD Teacher’s Convention to earn 1 or 2 academic credits for teacher certification purposes by enrolling in our online course EDUC 565 Topics in Education: Professional Development Conference.
Course Information
This topics course captures the learning experience received through the various workshops and general sessions presented during NAD Teacher’s Convention.

*Make sure to receive approval from conference before enrolling if you are expecting from your conference to cover the fee.

Required Assignments
One Academic Credit
To obtain one academic credit for certification purposes, the following tasks must be successfully completed:
- Attend four (4) workshop presentations and three (3) general sessions.
- Record the information for each workshop presentation in the “Workshop Participation Log.”
- Complete and submit the “Workshop Participation Logs” to the submission dropbox in eClass.
- Write a 1,000-word reflection on how the concepts learned in the workshops and general sessions can be applied to your teaching in the upcoming school year.
Two Academic Credits
To receive two academic credits for certification purposes, the following requirements must be met:
- Attend four (4) workshop presentations and three (3) general sessions.
- Record the information for each workshop presentation in the “Workshop Participation Log.”
- Complete and submit the “Workshop Participation Logs” to the submission dropbox in eClass.
- Write a 1,500-word reflection on how the concepts learned in the workshops and general sessions can be applied to your teaching in the upcoming school year.
- Conduct further research on one of the topics presented in the convention and write a two-page document sharing the findings in APA format.
- Interview three fellow teachers and ask at least five (5) questions about how they plan to implement what they’ve learned from the presentations at the convention. The questions and responses must be submitted in a Microsoft Word document, including information about the person being interviewed.
